Default Civil War Button

Gordon and I were Supposed to hunt a civil war site today, But the man did not show up, Needless to say I was not pleased. The equipment was ready and so was I so we ventured off to another place. A man in town told us that in front of Dean swamp Baptist Church stood 5 beautiful homes and they were burned down during the war, when Sherman and his men came through. We found the area and knew we were in the right place because of the chimney bricks and bits of the foundations. The place is loaded with big pieces of iron, we found large pieces of farm equipment and loads of mason jar lids. After sweeping the area for an hour I had found the back and the insides of a pocket watch and a handle to a mirror. Gordon had fun digging the plow pieces. I went to the car and switched to my smallest coil and went over the areas I had already done thats when I pulled out this beauty. A Civil war South Carolina Seal button. I was elated. Sorry about the pictures.

Wish I had some Civil War sites around here. I think there was one small scurmish about a hundred mile from me. Both sides was out on the Srounge foriging for gold, Material and even food. Just happened to come accross each other.

That's great G-girl. How exciting to find a piece of history like that. Sounds like you had to wade through a lot of junk though. HH Mark.
