Default Taking the advice from the Pros !!

I always listen to people that have been detecting for a long time and have the finds to prove their experiance with a detector !!! Such is the case this morning , I took the advice from Jimmy Sierra (Whites Medal Detectors of California) and detected the area between the street and the sidewalk of an OLD area where the sidewalk has been torn up and after about 2 hours I came home with 2 1944 Washington Quarters and a 1907D Barber dime !!!! The dime looks as new as the day it was lost !!! Hapy Hunting ! KENNETH

Default Thanks Pat !!!!

Thanks Pat !! That 1907D Barber dime was a booger to dig !! It was under a chunk of cement left when they tore up the sidewalk !! There were ALOT of chunks of old sidewalk in the ground there but I know that really old sidewalks have no rebar in them and I got the SWEET sound of SILVER at about 5" ! I WAS GONNA DIG FOR IT !!! I pulled a chunk of the sidewalk up , that" by the way weighed about 30 lbs." !!!! AND BINGO ! This 1907D Barber looks as good as the day it was dropped ! I guess because the cement was covering it from the weather for 98 years !!! Keep us posted on your finds Pat !!! HAPPY HUNTING ! KENNETH

Default Oldest Coin ??

What is the OLDEST coin ya all have found and what condition is it in ? I love finding OLD coins because it makes me wonder who was the last person to have it in there hands ! An outlaw gang called themselves the Younger gang and my grandmother had a
railroad track just about 300 feet from her little house when she was about 5 years old and the engineer used to throw the newspaper out to my grandmother on the way through and she said she knew who they were but didnt tell anyone because there was a WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE poster in the paper of the Younger gang !!!They used to water there horses when they came through and one of the gang gave my grandmother a 20 dollar gold piece and I wonder if it was from one of their bank robberies! She died at 101 years old and aint no tellin what happened to the 20 dollar gold piece !!!! Just a story I thought ya all might like !! Ya can learn alot from elderly peoples stories of lost treasures !! HAPPY HUNTING ! KENNETH

Thanks for that tad bit on the concrete. I have been detecting near sidewalks and just thought all of it had some type of iron or metal in it. I guess better check and decide on the age! That is something I did not know! I have just assumed all of it was making my detector sound off! Ok don't laugh people! And if you do that will be ok too! lol!

I found a 1912 wheat and gave it to the owner of the property for letting me hunt his place. I am still looking for an 1800 coin. I will find it one day!

Happy hunting and love hearing of your finds Kenneth!

Pat

Default 1800s Coins ????

Hey Pat keep on swinging that coil because the 1800s coins are out there !! I had a good tip on a field that used to be a rodeo grounds / stock yard back in the 1890s ! I took my trusty detector over to the field and and roped off 30' sq. areas and worked on this field , I would say for about three weeks total and LOW & BEHOLD where there was a rusted out fence pole that stood about 3" out of the ground at about 7" I dug an 1836 Coronet Large cent !! Dont know much about the grading of coins but this Large cent was in really good condition worth about $175.00 according to my coin pricing guide !!! So Pat!!!!! keep on keepin on and find that OLD hunting ground and the old goodies will be there !!! HAPPY HUNTING KENNETH
