Default lots of gas, beer and Tim's money

From the land of the Bluenose....way to go on a not to shabby 3 months. Often wondered about us diggers who, if you took our finds and divided it by the number of hours spent finding it would probably mean that we are working for less then a dollar an hour...ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm but on the other shoe where else can you spend so much quality time and get paid for doing something so pleasurable. Bluenoser's logic! man the next 3 months be even better!

LOL--If your in it for an hourly wage..your in trouble!!!
Actually...I have been "plucking" most of my finds, up to 3" deep.
I probe with an ice pick to find the coin and then swing the pick in a circle to open up the soil, and work the coin out using my index finger and the pick. It takes practice, but achieves many positive results.
1. Saves time
2. Greatly reduces turf disruption/damage-especially in dry conditions.
3. Allows you to "work" manicured turf such as Ball diamonds or soccer fields.
4. Generates no negative perception from observers- the spot is virtually invisible when done.

Of course it goes without saying that the soil has to be "almost" rock free, which most ballparks are.(topsoil) With practice, you can tell stone from a coin by the sound and feel.
