Default and still digging...

I havent been out much since my son has been gone for a week and plus school starts Wed. so we've been pretty busy getting ready. I went to my parents house....big mistake. Every step I took my detector beeped and of course I had to dig. I dug up nickles, pennies, dimes, beer cans, pop tops...nothing good. It was from us and all our pool parties when I was growing up! I thought their house would be good because when they built it there was the foundation of a very old teeny tiny one bedroom house and when they dug the basement my dad found a few rings. But for me....no luck. I made about $2.00 out of their back yard though!

I think I'm going to hit the bottom of that old sled hill I mentioned in another post. It's been a sled hill since the late 1800's. There HAS to be old coins there!!!! The worse that could happen is they catch me and make me leave. My mother is trying to get me to go outside the old cemetary by my house, we walked around it ant the oldest grave there is 1712! I will not search inside the gates but the ouside I would. I just can picture the people walking around there all that time ago. There is one other spot I'm dying to get permission to go and that is an old campground. There is tons of history there, it's old and closed. The cabins are still there and run down, there is a very old barn there and silo's. I keep driving by to see if the owners are around...no luck yet.

I have been fascinated w/ digging since I was in about the 3rd grade. I remember my science book showing a picture saying that if you dug this far you could find jewelry, this much further you could find this or that and it got deeper and deeper. Since then I was hooked but just now got around to doing it!

Yes I've just started, it's been about a week now. The oldest I've found was today and that was 1971 quarter. I've found old shotgun casings, I'm trying to find out exactly how old they are because where I found them has been a park for 50 years and hunting has been banned. I've also found lots of odds and ends like hinges, door locks, nails...not just new nails but spike like nails. Once I figure out how to post pics I will get them up.

Cool The nice finds will come..

sooner or later one of those holes you dig will have a nice silver coin at the bottom.
