Default Metal Detecting with friends

Johnwpa arrived at my house at quarter till nine this morning
We drove to Fairchance to hit our hot spot, the weather was very nice with a light breeze and in the seventies. After firing up my Minelab I got a quick hit and laying just under the leaves was a very nice gas station token. I believe these were handed out in the sixties.

John and I then spotted another building far back in the woods, as we was investigating we found what looks like newspaper dies or negatives laying right on top of the ground. I believe I gathered six or seven of these.

We then drove to Greensboro to meet with Wyatt Earp, at first glance he really did resemble Mr. Earp
After talking a bit we headed for the river bank. The river was very low and I detected along the water's edge but but found no coins. John and Wyatt were skunked too, I guess it wasn't meant to be.

I might add that Wyatt showed us one of his Banjos that he made. I have never seen such a beautiful well made banjo. He played us a little tune and showed us his past finds That was the look on my face when I saw them two Civil War buttons!!!

Lets get together again soon,

Greg

Hey Greg.......I have a lead on yet another picnic grove....

We aren't going to get skunked every time. We were just in the wrong place at the right time.

Im going to see if I can get a look at the old newspapers I told you about too. It's a great way to find obscure events and places....and may not pay off, but you don't know until you try. The more knowledge you have...the better off you are. I would rather have my old beachcomber and a previously undetected site....than the best detector in the world and a place that's been hunted hard for 30 years.

I enjoyed meeting you and John. We'll do better next time out. I have another turn of the century farmhouse or 2 to ask permission to hunt. We might do well at one (or both) of those.
