Default just 12 cents tonight...but...

I was able to hunt an old farmhouse yard this evening for a couple hours. I only found 12 cents....but I'm happy enough with that this evening. These 3 coins were all in the same hole! They were but 3-4 inches deep. I always like finding seated coins....and have only ever found 4...all dimes. I always get a kick out of finding indian heads, and this is my first multiple Indian head find. The 1907 Indian is a real shame....had a full liberty on the headband, but the ravages of time and acidic soil make that a moot point. The 1892's patina is real nice.

Nice coins Wyatt. I am wondering what program you use to put the text in your pics. And what is the background. Do you use a scanner or a camera? It is a clear pic and the text is something I would like to try. It looks ckassy.

Years ago, I bought a Mustek scanner, and it came with a program called IPhoto Plus. I've tried several software programs for managing images, but I always go back to this one. The user interface is quite simple.

The picture was taken with a 2.0 megapixel Sony camera that takes a full size floppy disc. I just found out about the macro feature on the camera. When the macro's on...there's an icon that looks like a flower in a pot....that icon must be displayed when taking close up pictures. I wish my camera were a better one. These were taken at a distance of 13 inches, which is the minimum distance this camera can achieve.

The background is just a cheezy "cornboard" filing cabinet with vinyl
"pseudo wood" covering.

PM me if you'd like to try this image management program.

It's a strange hobby to make full grown men get excited about 17 cents....when if we put our finds together, we couldn't afford a cup of coffee. But for me...it's about imagining how the stuff got there....touching another era, even if for just a moment...and taking the stuff home and sticking it in a box. Almost like a kid with lightning bugs in a jar....except you don't have to put grass in with 'em to make 'em feel at home.

By all means.....look me up. If you get some solid plans, shoot me an email and I'll send you my phone number. I hunted around an older home here in town yesterday....found a fired .36 caliber musket ball...and a 1964 Roosevelt dime. The musket ball's an old one. No telling how it got there. 2 silver in 2 days....now I have to get out tomorrow to see if I can continue the lucky streak.

I only started doing this again in July. follwing my heart attack....so I'm just now getting nerve enough to ask folks for permission to detect their property. So far I've met with no problems. That streak will eventually come to an end I'm sure....but I'm batting 1000 for now.
