Default More Relics

Here are a few finds from yesterday and today. Went to the park yesterday and found a 1964 nickel and a 1945D Wheat and a few newer coins. That was it for that trip. Today I went back to an area where cw soldiers may have camped. Found some farming equipment and 2 axe heads, and a copper whatizit? That was it for my trip there. Decided to go to a friends property where she discovered a brick pillar that looks to be an entrance to an old homesite...too growed up to do much detecting. Didn't find much on this trip but really enjoyed getting out and walking the woods. Very peaceful. Returned home, and father-in-law needed us to come over and locate a water pipe under his house so let my husband have that task...I'm just not much on climbing under
(dark snake infested houses)
While he was detecting under the house I snuck over to a vacant lot where an old house use to set and found a few things! Got another military button. And a few relics that I am going to ask Pappy about!
Here are pics.

I never thought of putting things on Ebay. I just might try that with some of my stuff. Thanks for the suggestion.

Default Nice Digs

Pat,
Looks as if You had a good day! Much better than my dig yesterday evening!
The item that looks like a flower might be a candle holder? The Military button is the type still used today. This type was introduced in the early 1900's, I think around 1908? The rectangle piece with the slot is a watch fob. A piece of thin leather went through the slot and the other end was attached to the pocket watch. The fob hung outside the pants pocket or the slot in the Bib of the Overalls. It aided in easy removal of the watch.
The complete double bladed axe and hoe appear to be modern. I don't know that they ever made a double bladed axe during the Civil War Era. All the axe I've ever found from that Era have a cutting edge on one end and a hitting/hammer head on the other with a hump down where the handle goes through the head. The hoe in this Era was one piece with an extruded hole for the handle to pass through the blade itself. I haven't a clue on the copper whatizit.
Yes I've sold a few axe, hoe and the World's smallet hatchet on eBay along with several hundred other items that I've dug. I usually sell these items and then buy something I want/like to add to my collection.

Hoping You and Everyone Has Continued Luck A Digging,
It's So Dry Here The Ground Is Like Concrete,
Guess I'll Go Fishing or Walking The Creeks Looking For Arrowheads?
Hoping Everyone Has A Great Day!! Roger

Default Just Trying To Help

Hello Pat and Everyone,
I hope no one feels as if I was being rude! I was just giving my oponion on the posted scans. For comparison I'm attaching a couple scans of a CW Era hoe and the Worlds Smallest Hatchet. An axe of this Era (or the type I'm familiar with) looks just like the Hatchet but much larger.

Hoping This Helps, Roger
