Default fun outing today nets a little silver

WEll, I got in the car this afternoon and headed for my son's place. When doing the floors they found 1930 newspapers under the linoleum, so I figured I'd give his yard a shot.....got a 1994 quarter and 3 wheats.

OK....decided to go into town and hit a smal parcel of land at an intersection where there had been a small store and a VFW post years ago, and found 1946 and a 1947 Roosies, and an 1903 V-nickel, and a nice 1919 wheatie. As usual the V nickel isn't in very good condition. The place kind of dried up and I decided to go get something to drink. I decided to go to the Dairy Queen, about a block away.......which turned out to be a really good idea.

While buying a coke, I asked if I could detect by the picnic tables outside, and they said "sure"....and after 3 hours, I could hardly keep my pants up for the weight of the coins in my pocket. I'd pinpoint a target and try to lay the detector down...and lay it right on top of another target....just like the old days. There were coins on the surface and down as deep as 5 inches. I started running out of daylight, so I decided I was going to look for quarter hits only. That was kind of fun....but I have to go back there. There's nothing old....but there sure is a lot of it.

Totals for today....

16 quarters..all clad
34 dimes....including 2 silver
6 nickels, including the V nickel
94 pennies, 6 of which were wheaties
7 zincolns...in the trash

I found a couple "whatzits" to post later....but I'm pooped right now. I think maybe a hot bath will refresh me. Oh yeah...I got some poison ivy too ...dang it anyhow. I guess you've got to take the bad with the good.

Wyatt

Congrats on all your finds today Wyatt! That sounds like the trip I took to the dirt track, I did the same for a while with the quarters and boy was I hitting a lot of quarters! Sorry to hear about the poison Ivy! Sounds like you had a great outing!

I've at least got to start wearing a belt. I stopped wearing one because they tear up the backside of banjos....but the frequent tugging at my jeans yesterday was very annoying.

After I get the shallow stuff cleaned up, I still could pop an older coin or 2 out of there. It's in the right section of town. You never know.
