Default I finally dug...

A coin from the 1800's. Has taken me forever, but the day has finally come! I am jumping for joy! I dug an 1897 Barber Quarter today!
Not sure on the depth but was reading quarter. I had dug so many copper and steel pieces, that when I came to this strong loud signal When I pin pointed, it was so small of an object I said well I hope this is a quarter...when I saw it I thought what in the world is this...I have never been a coin collector till now,(that is collecting what I dig) and this is the first time I have seen a barber quarter in my hand! Very exciting day today! Hope you all don't mind me sharing my day!
What is the best way to clean this silver coin?
Here are my finds

Default Thats Great!!!!

Still waiting to dig my first 1800's coin. With alittle luck hopefully some CW soldier droped a coin for me to find along with all these bullets. (I think A.J. found an old CW era coin today that, with the luck he is having at digging buttons he's about ready to be expelled from our band of merry misfits lol J/k)

Mighty nice find there Pat and I'm very happy for you
Nice picture of you with lady Liberty!

I'd just soak it in dish liquid for a day or so then rinse in warm water.

Hi Pat

Very nice find ,,and very good pictures !!

you can soak that coin in acetone with out fear of damge to the silver !! do not rub the coin at all!!acetone will not harm the noble metals,Silver,Gold,Platinum

it may take several soakings or a long one to remove most of the dirt, but a little bit of natural honest appearance is nice on a coin!!

Thanks for sharing the excitement with us !!

Rick
