Default My first 3 Ring Bullet

Found this hunting with some good friends in the middle of the path.
My first bullet. I think I was more excited when I found the bullet
than when I found that merc. dime the other day.

Default Nice!!

Glad you found your first bullet! This goes to show you, a place is never hunted out. A.J. and myself have hunted that 40 yard path atleast 4 or 5 times (its also the path were I dug the multi-groove). In case I'm gone before ya'll get up that way again, its been great meeting and hunting with ya'll and i'll be looking forward to your's and everyone else's finds from this place. Not only will I be living through my childrens eyes, I'll be living through your finds....HH....Bill

Oh...here's the bullet. Very, very nice find. I suppose the RELIC bug has bitten now. LOL!!!! I remember the 2 weeks after finding my first bullet my wife wanted a divorce. I was never home, but out digging. .
Travis.

P.S.---did you clean out the cavity and if so are there any markings down in it?

Default Markings

I havnt found any 3 ringers out there with star base or U.S. markings, this was an early site in the war 1861 1862 timeframe, might have been too early for those markings and probibly the reason i found that multi-groove. Im sure it was right at the transition period for paper to metal cartridges. And what really sucks, is right when I get the relic bug, i find out that im being dragged away from my CW site.

I was also thinking about "swag" base bullets. Looks like the one I'm posting. I think...and could be wrong...that the picket lines were maintained for the duration of the war. Which means that the early Confederate pieces are deeper than the Union items we are finding. Let's hope anyway. I hear we may get rain this weekend but I am still game for a dig!

Default Oh yea

On what could possibly be my last weekend in N.C. rain, snow, or hurricane couldnt keep me away. Although the rain does tend to sap my energy after a few hours (3 or 4) as it did the weekend before last.

Community Day is supposed to finish up at 3 so I think Xcal is thinking of getting in at least a short hunt before dark. Got one bullet and now he wants a buckle already. If you guys are around late maybe we can get in a late hunt. What are you and Travis working?
