Default schoolhouse well going dry...

Well, it had to happen eventually. The schoolyard is getting stingier now. Today I could ony muster a 1950 rosie, a 43-P war nickel, and the usual 25 or so pennies, including 14 wheats....the coolest of which is a 1920...in neon lime green. Also found a 1931....rest were 40s and 50s.

Time to start digging lower meter readings.....which is how I got the war nickel to begin with. It came up around 50-55 on the meter...the same range as a zinc penny for those who want to know....so ignoring zincolns...is ignoring silver war nickels.

By comparison to the last 2 days, each of which netted 8 pieces of silver (15 dimes and a ring)...it's getting stingier.

I'm using a whites 6000DI Pro series 3.....the one with "hot rock reject". Not all series 3 pros have that feature. It will still pick up a large piece of coke and show it as "quarter"...but smaller "hot" rocks do not affect this machine.

I think I've figured out the lack of barber coins here. There very well may not be many to find...because this was coal country and the miners were paid in script, redeemable at the company store. It may be that there's just none to be found here....but that doesn't explain no indian head pennies....those were being spent in the 40s and 50s to some extent...and a one room schoolhouse from the 1890s, also nearby....gave up several indian heads 10 years ago.
