Hello Pat, You had a great day! Without seeing the back I'm thinking the button could be off coverall, coat or pants. Some were sewn on but most were riveted and may be the reason the back is missing on yours. I'm presently getting my collection of these button together and will post a scan soon.

hi Pat!! very nice finds there! the button looks to be a british royal airforce button from ww2! i have found one of those over here! suprising! that ring is a beauty, lovely finds well done on them
