Default Does anyone know anything about meteorites?

I found this on a brief hunt this past Saturday. I pulled it from a garden from around 6 inches. The garden was somewhat damp so it was covered with wet dirt. I figured it was probably another piece of scrap and stuck it right in my pocket. When I washed it off at home I found out it appears to be some type of rock. The kicker was it is metallic. The dime is in the second picture for size comparison. Could it be a meteorite piece?

Default Meteorite

CHIEF, More than likely it is a piece of meteorite. I have found numerous ones and that is what I have been told and mine look exactly like yours...PAPPY

Thanks Pappy. Were the pieces you found heavy or light weight. This thing probably weighs less than the dime beside it.

Default star stone

Mine are light and made my detector go crazy. Thought I had found a fortune when it went off. I have about eight. Found all of them in my front yard. On clear nights here we see many shooting stars. A friend of mine about 8 miles from me has one that weighs about 4 pounds....PAPPY

Thanks again Pappy. That must be what it is. Anyone want to own a genuine piece of meteorite for a reasonable price?

I always find pieces of light metallic rock like that in my yard, they always happen to be in the holes in digging and are picked up by my pinpointer.. very very annoying! I thought these were just hot rock or coke or something?
From what i know meteorites are heavy, dense, and magnetic.
