Default Finds Today (11-21-2005)

Nothing major here except for the fact I'm getting the upper hand on the new Quattro. I ventured back to this field that has a mulitude of signals and finds. This place has produced Indian Artifacts, Civil War Relics up to the present day junk from the present landowner. I try to hunt this place after the spring planting and again in the fall.
Civil War bullet and ball, two wheats, one Buffalo, some more overall buttons, looks to be a pocket watch key, a brass ring or ear ring? I also found some other brass and lead items.

Thanks, HH, Roger

Nice to see your getting out again Roger and some nice brass finds! Whats that "fouled anchor" button? Does it have a period backmark or is it newer? Looks like a brass toe plate also (the larger brass "curved" item).

Default Nice finds Roger

I dug one of those pocket watch keys this year...top of pic. I never knew what it was. Thanks. I agree looks like a toe or heal plate. What does the button with anchor say? Keep hitting that place hard. Good to hear you are learning the Quattro. Im a Minelab user myself...Explorer...the best kept secret in relic hunting...

I thought the anchor button was something good when dug. Turns out to be an overall/work clothes button. The front is marked "CANAL DE VIEUX" and the back has rusted away.
Hey Marc in Va, the item you speak of (top of your picture and bottom right of mine) is a wick stem for a coal oil lantern or lamp. I was referring to the item in the lower left. I took a scan of this one with another one found at a CW Camp close to Shiloh.

I'm Gone Digging Somewhere,
Good Luck To All, Roger
