Over the thanksgiving holiday, I found a 1798 Carolus IIII (about the size of a dime) at the Jersey beach. It was heavily worn from sitting in the sand but nonetheless readable. I was very exited to find a coin that is 207 years old. Upon doing a little research, I found out that this is some type of Spanish Reale. I can't read the demonitation on the back of the coin to be sure the exact face value amount. Can anyone tell me a good research site to further research this type of coin? I can't post a picture as it won't display well.

You should look on eBay to see if there is anything similar. It sounds as though it's a one reale to me.....the 8 reale coin was about the size of a silver dollar and was divided in 8 "bits"...."2 bits"....or a 2 reale coin...was roughly equivalent to our quarter....and a one reale would have been about 12 1/2 cents....roughly the size of a dime.
