An afternoon in the park...
I've been eyeing this park for a while, and finally got the opportunity to search it. The park was planned when this particular city was founded, so it's been there for a long time. It is just outside the downtown area, sandwiched into nice neighborhoods.
Unlike most urban parks aroundf here, this one is still vibrant and functional. Lots of people jog and walk through it, kids play, and large events are held there.
I searched around a number of trees, rhododendron beds, benches, and an area across a bridge by the water front where it looks like concerts are held.
This is another place where folks don’t pick up cans when mowing! Very frustrating to wade through endless shreds of aluminum cans.
Some areas near trees and flower/fern beds yielded quite old memorial cents, while most of the other coinage is just the run of the mill much younger clad..
A bench near the central part of the park gave me the best find of the day: A faux gold ring with four nice stones! It gave me quite a start until I realized that it wasn’t solid gold. Still, it's better than nothing!
32 coins recovered for a total of $1.25. No remarkable coinage…. Good results for an hour and a half. Lots more ground to cover, looking forward to getting back there again!
