Default Extreme Metal Detecting

Howdy,

JohnWpa drove down to do some detecting yesterday. It was cold here I think upper twenties.
I looked towards the Mountain and said thats where we're heading and didn't think there would be that much snow...I was wrong again

When we arrived there the snow was more than 6 inches deep and I had my tennis shoes on
I wasn't sure of the location of these old cellar hole foundations I was told about and we never did find them.
However we did find an old pond which was probably an old swimming hole but the snow was very difficult to detect in.

Although my right foot was numb and wet (frozen) from stepping in the creek John and I had a great time out in the wilderness and during deer season to boot which I did not know because we were in West Virginia.

We dug a few zinc lids along with a spoon. John spotted some old pottery in the spring fed pond.

Thanks for another great time John..nothing better then detecting with friends

Greg

Nice pics Greg,
I would be out there but not in tennis shoes . Man i love to hunt old places with potential. You win the Cold Foot Award .It's a black toe from an unknown detectorist found face down in the snow and his 6" deep plug within an inch of a $20 gold piece . Wondering what that EXcelerator coil was attached to Looks like fun Greg but you really need to invest in BOOTS Just Kidding .HH Bill

Your right Bill....Greg should get some kind of award!!! He's one tough guy.... walk through all the snow and BIG PA / WV hills to that pond location.....Greg really impressed me with his determination on trying to find these cellar holes and then he sniffed out this swimming hole which we would of never found if it wasn't for those sneakers taking him there!!!

Now that's roughing it!

Bet that pond site is on your list for a return trip come Spring!

Geez Greg, spent all your money on the Minelab and forgot to buy some boots!
