3 dirty pennies and a shield emblem
It was pretty temperate yesterday (45 degrees), so in the afternoon, I ventured down to the old schoolhouse for a couple hours. Man, it's gettin' tough to find any coins there at all.
All I was able to muster was these 3 pennies, a 36, a 48, and an unknown memorial penny....and this cool shield which was mounted to something cylindrical in shape. At first I thought it was off of a bicycle....but I think it's too heavily made, and the radius suggests something larger....like maybe an old Victorian woodburner? Burnside is a Company that comes to mind. I really have no clue what it's from, but it's neat, and it's nickel plated brass. Any ideas? Wyatt Last edited by Wyatt Earp; 12-24-2005 at 01:46 PM.

Nice find,amazing how just a few miles can make in the weather it was also in the 40's here yesterday and today,but there's about 5 inches of snow on top of 2 inches of ice,My buddy has a backhoe mabey.........

The shield you found maybe a sign for a stagecoach in the late 1880's. I found one but it had stagecoach name on it, and its from east liverpool,ohio. its made out of heavy yellow brass. I hope that helps, or ask Pappy!

That would be awesome if it was from a stagecoach! Very interesting find you have there! Love those relics! Great finds!
