Default Great day at Old School with first Buffalo!

Hi Folks!
Today we had a break in the rain, and I had the opportunity to revisit an old schoolhouse for the first time this year.
The site has been continuously used since 1883, and currently has the last two room schoolhouse still in use in WA state.
Last year, I hit it a few times, but was frustrated with the truly horrendous soil and lack of coins (although I was pulling out a lot of old artifacts).
I searched a different part of the grounds, and pulled up a nice kitty cat and heart pin from the first hole I dug.
The next hole yielded the berst find of the day: The DFX indicated a solid 24, then a solid 14, then back to a solid 24 and stayed there, so there was a good chance of it being a nickel.
I pulled the plug, and there it was, about 3" down. It wasn't until I pulled the nickel out and wiped it off that I realised what I had found: There was an Indian's face staring at me! Whoo-hoo!!!
The coin turned out to be well worn and dateless, but it's a treasure nonetheless... It's such a joy to be finding good stuff for a change!
Digging near the old ballfield turned up another nickel, this time a '41-S...
It was a great day, with nickels outnumbering cents 2 to 1, and only one accursed Zincoln coming to light.
This gives me hope: Maybe this will be the year I find a silver coin!

HH! -Tom

Tom, Congrats! So happy to hear of your luck! I have a couple of buffalo's that have no date! But you are right, it is a true treasure!

Continue the good luck in your digs! Looks like it is going to be a good year indeed!
