an old Eagle Spectrum and got an overload signal and thought it was just another beer or soda can but decided to dig it. Just goes to show you never know what you may find no matter what the detector is telling you.

Nice finds bill de. Did you find them in a park, old house site or school? Whats the dates on the coins? I would work that site hard. Could be more laying around. Keep us updated. greg

Greg i found these last year at an overhunted park and also found 5 other silvers that day but since posting at another site the varmints hit and found unfilled holes everywhere so i don't post where i find things anymore. Perhaps we should think twice before identifying our good sites. HH Bill

First off, congratulations on your super find! The larger coin in the right hand part of the picture, is that a nickel? Can you identify the type and or date? It makes my blood boil to go to a site and see wholesale destruction without regard for anyone but themselves. Those are the "people" (I use that term lightly), that are a curse to whatever they do, or cause they take up. Sure, all of us would find more if we didn't need to be careful, but then we would have access to a site exactly once, and that would be it. And it would ruin it for those after us, too. I found a single spot in three years that is productive beyond my expectations, but I made doggone sure that holes were dug carefully, and the site left so that no one could see I had ever been there. I haven't publicized it, either. Folks that dig and destroy should have their detectors stuffed you-know-where. I like what the Egyptians did to tomb robbers: They were taken outside of town and impaled alive on stakes, and left to die, rot, and be eaten by wild animals. That's about fitting for the varmints as well. Keep up the good finds! HH! -Tom |
