Default Reminescing Good Ol' Times

Well, I was just sitting here waxing nostalgic, and I thought I'd share...

I was looking back at my log book from when I was hunting just about every day, back when I was in college... I cannot believe the good fortune I had back then... it makes my hunting now seem like nothing... it's kindof bittersweet - I don't think I'm ever gonna have that kind of luck again...

For example, during the month of April, 1989, here's what I found:
1 1922 Peace Dollar
5 silver halves - 1903, 1915, 1939, 1941, and 1942
8 silver quarters - 1902, 1915, dateless SL, 1935, 1938, 1941, 1942, 1946
8 silver dimes - 1901, 1913 (3), 1920, 1924, 1942

And as of Aug. 5, 1989, I had found in total:
1 silver dollar
6 silver haves
44 silver quarters
120 silver dimes
24 buffalo nickles
14 silver nickles
8 IH pennies

By Oct. 14, 1989, I had found:
1 silver dollar
6 silver haves
51 silver quarters
134 silver dimes
24 buffalo nickles
26 silver nickles
8 IH pennies

And by the end of the year:
1 silver dollar
6 silver haves
52 silver quarters
137 silver dimes
25 buffalo nickles
26 silver nickles
8 IH pennies

592 silver coins from March 1987 thru 1989...

And jewelry...
1987 - 13 rings - 10 silver; 10 silver medallions/jewelry objects
1988 - 22 rings - 19 silver, 3 gold; 20 silver medallions/jewelry objects
1989 - 25 rings and jewelry

...man I hope I can even find a fraction of that again now......

Default Common Silver

YEA, I KNEW HUNTERS THAT WOULD NOT HUNT SITES WITH MOSTLY COMMON SILVER.(that is, silver from the 40's,50's, and 60's) that was in the late 80's or so!!! Now that common silver is rarely found especially in any of the public areas! In the 70's and 80's we had club meetings where a lot of members would display 20 or more silver coins found each month! Now 4 or 5 a month would be a lot! Of course, I believe that a lot of jewelry items was left behind cause they were harder to find because of their wide areas of acceptance or rejection on the ID meter! JOE

Good Luck to you

Default tech.

Could you imagine being the only one with today's metal detecting technology back then! You'd have wagon loads of coins. You'd clean out every park or hot spot.
