ladys put them on the bottom of the shoe/glogs to walk around in the mud to keep there dresses out of the mud ,there are all kind of patterns even one for kids there a very nice finds and farmer seem to like them alot Iron foot patten. Oval frame with projecting brackets at each end.
A complete foot patten comprises the iron ring, a wooden platform (to which the ring is attached), and a fabric or leather toe-piece and sides. The pattens were fitted to the underside of the wearer's shoes and held in position by laces. They were worn to protect the shoes from mud and surface water.
