Default World's Fair ST Louis 1904 Union Station

Got to explore an area that the elders say was what they called the poor farm from the late 1800's. They housed the homeless. Got to see a few old graves on the back of the property. There are no markers or headstones. You can see where the dirt is sunken and they are surrounded by iris's. When I go back I will take pics!

There was a couple of buildings on the property...doing a lot of walking to see if I can locate the whereabouts! Also a shotgun house. Have located the area of the shotgun house.

Found a couple of plows and what was left of a horseshoe, lots of nails and this interesting plaque...what is left of it! Sure wish it would have been in better shape!!! Only had about an hour to hunt, had to check on the kido's and had to hook it to the house. Charging my battery and going back later to see what else is out there! Not expecting much with it being a poor farm, but might just hold some interesting relics!

HH
Pat

Default Shotgun House

A shotgun house is a house that when you walk into the front door or the back door you walk down a hallway with rooms to both sides of the hall. Nothing down the hall to seperate the rooms on either side..When you walk in the front door you can see the back door straight down the hallway...PAPPY

Default Just a thought Pat.....

But i would think that even if they were poor, mabey they were saving up and had a post hole bank around. Also theres always the possibility of someone dropping a rare coin like say a 1916-d dime. Also there should be the possibility of old bottles, dumps etc..ya never know !!! HH..Terry

Default Shotgun House

Because it's STRAIGHT THROUGH with no dividers...STRAIGHT SHOT...Used to board farming tennants.
