Default Research Paid Off: Day 2

I went detecting today at "the cross" and I found this ring. It read down in the "nickel" range, so I believe there is some gold in it.

I just got done air testing the ring, and it reads at 10 V.D.I.; this is in the "foil" range on my 6000 Pro XL. So, I don't think that it is gold plated.

Default Look carefully for karat markings

these can be hard to see on small ladies rings. If you find no marking (british gold has a different stamp called an assayers mark) then check any scratched or cracks on the ring and see if the colour is true to the surface, if it is it's gold.
Weight is a poor test on small rings because you can't get a feel for it.
