HJ junior's find
My son (16) was so interested in my detector that he went out and bought a Bounty Hunter at Wal mart. On his first day with his new toy he dug up an unbelievable amount of metal out of the back yard.
He called me this afternoon at work and said he found his first coin (Canadian penny) and had dug up a newer looking hatchet. When I came home and looked over his second day haul my attention was caught by this gem.
It is an old make up compact. It has ornate scrolling around the outside and apparantly has a painted decoration in the center. The mirror inside is silvered, not polished, and the applicator looks like gauze. It seems to be a thin bronze or copper construction.
Anyone out there who can help with an approx. age of this item or any other comments would be appreciated.
