Pennies from heaven
A couple of years ago my parents both passed on, both within a week of each other. At the time all I wanted to do was pack things up and get on with life, my wife and I had been caring for them for several years. I had an "I'll buy the steaks and beer if you help me pack party" with my kids and several friends helping out. I really didn't know what went into all those boxes and they have been sitting my garage for the last three years. Yesterday I started going through them and found a shoe box. It was heavy as lead and figured it was my father's wheel weight collection, he saved everything else. Imagine my surprise when I opened it up and found about 35 rolls of pennies along with several baggies full of mixed pennies, nickles, and dimes. Have not even gone through it yet but looks like at least half the pennies are wheats, earliest one I found so far has been 1912, and a roll of merc dimes. My mother had written her bank account number on all the rolls so guess she planned on just depositing them and never got around to it, thanks Mom.
Got about 3 inches of fresh snow last night so looks like a good day for indoor treasure hunting... Bob
