Default Small Park Gives More Old Coins!

I decided to hit the small park in my town today for about 2 hours. Once I got in the park I went straight to an area that I knew had a lot of different junk signals. I held confident in the belief that there were old coins near or under the junk that others have missed. Within 15 minutes of turning my detector on in this area, I got a "junky, but decent" signal that pinpointed at 3.5". I knew by the sound of the signal and how it read on my screen that it had to be an Indian Head. It turned out to an 1895 Indian Head; Indeedy . After finding it I became very focused because I knew more had to be around it. I used a technique called "Circling" after finding the IH. This technique proved to work because I found a 1902 IH at 4" about 10 feet from the 1st. After finding the 2nd I still remained firm on the "Circling" technique and it worked yet again. I soon got a "junky-somewhat so-so" signal at 4". This target turned out to be a 1906 V-Nickel; I was on Cloud Nine now . A square nail also came out of the same hole, hence the reason for the junk signal. All 3 of these coins were found in a 10' by 10' area! I will be heading back to this area sometime this week. Wish me luck!

This park has given me so many old coins. My uncle and brother still will not detect this park with me because they think it is hunted out. HA! I guess I like to pick between the trash and get to the good stuff. They don't like hard work I guess. It may be more work, but I love the challenge. Whenever I find an older coin in this park, besides a Wheatie, I feel really successful in my hunt. I believe that the finds are more rewarding when they are found in hunted-out parks.

I have been hitting it for about 5 months and it still produces! I have found more Indian Heads in this park than Wheaties-8 to 7. There is so much trash that the coins are "hidden" due to being near or under it. I guess I will be heading back to the Garden!
