First time detecting

Well, I managed to tear a few holes in my yard. Found about 6 pieces of junk. A large piece of rebarb, a tin looking pepsi can, and 1970's looking pepsi cap. My house was built in the early 70's. I handed my wife the detector for three minutes and she found 3 pennies. Then, she didn't find anything for a couple of minutes and handed it back.

I didn't find anymore coins. The detector seems to go off a lot. I find it hard digging an 8" hole without making a mess.

I can tell I'm going to get some strong forearms from this hobby.

Pennies are 1970 S, 1964, 1972 D

Not a bad start. Just keep at it, learn your detector, research some places that are likely to have old coins or relics and I guarantee you will be hooked. It only gets better and better.
