Default 1788 1/2 real.

took the moped out through the dingweeds today.First i tryed the trail to the fairgrounds and found 2 weatbacks, gave up as i wanted to find somthing old so i loaded the ped up with some provisions and headed out to an old foundation site not far from were i had found some nice colonial artifacts and a few large cents in the past.Hadent been there in years as its a good ways out in the woods.I searched for about 3 houres while getting eaten alive by deerflies and sceeters. dident find much and was getting ready to call it a day when i got a signal in the front yard area while heading back to the ped.Found the 1/2 real at around 10 inches. This is the oldest silver coin i've found sofar.

Great Find there Terry! I understand those wasted hours very well but You pulled out one Great Coin for your efforts! I'm still waiting to break into the 1700's!
What machine are you using?

Continued Good Luck, Take Care, HH, Roger

Hey Dave ! thanks, found it in the maple grove area( between Morris and Gilbertsville) I also found out today that if you have noticed there are alot of large blowflies ? around, annoying but they dont bite.I heard that the DEC released them to kill the tent catipilers that are wreaking havic over this way espesily around gilboa and delaware county.Wonder what they will introduse to get rid of them ! I'm hopin it will be somea them 10 pound african frogs heard they taste like chicken !
