Default I'm hooked!!!!

I played around with detection years ago with my boyfriend but never really got into it. He would find and I would dig. Well for whatever reason we have gotten back into it. This time around I have taken it more seriously. I have been searching for the last month or so. I have found a few civil war items and have just been playing around in the yard to learn the art of detecting. I'm not exactly sure but have heard the house was built in 1840. I have found a lot of newer coins but the oldest being 1940. I couldn't understand this being how old the house is. I keep digging trying to find a silver coin with no luck. Last night I was searching the yard after work. It was hot and I was getting ready to go in. I kept telling myself just one more good signal and thats it. Good thing I kept going. I got a good quarter signal about 4 inches down. I thought I got my first 50 cent piece by the size. When I wiped the coin it read 1826. WOW I'm so excited I could burst.

That is what the hobby is all about! Great find! Just imagine the history behind that coin. Losing that coin was no small matter for the person who dropped it.

Great find. I always like to think about what the person that lost a old coin like this was like, what they were doing when they dropped it. And just think you are the first person to touch this since someone lost it so many years ago. Just a great feeling.
I'm giving you the two thumbs up

4"!!

In ohio that coin would have been 14"...

Never understood that. You can hunt any old house in west central ohio and dig up memorial pennies at 6" deep.
