Default more from the backyard

I was digging in the back yard again and I found what is on photo 1, I know it is just a paint can but what is on photo 2 was sitting inside it like a cover, photos 3 and 4 show how it fit inside, could it have been the cover to the paint can or could it have just been placed with it, I also found rectangular flat pieces of metal about the same size as a shingle (I did'nt get a photo of them yet) and there is also what I believe to be a slab of concrete or something, it was kind of in 1 corner of the hole I had dug, I will have to go out tommorow and try to find the edges of it and dig it up, it got to dark tonight, I was using the flashlight to dig out the items
in the photo

Looks like your finding fun stuff right in your own backyard. When does your property date to, know any history of it?

Using a flashlight???? That kind of determination while digging is going to pay off for you big time someday soon!!

All the best,

I do't know the history of the land itself but I was told the house is over 100, I know it is over 70 for sure cause they stopped making the bricks that made the basement wall in the 1930's, the town is celebrating it's 150th b-day this weekend, I also don't know if there was another house here before this one or not. My dad bought the house for me (I pay him rent) so he has all the papers about it's history (in a safty deposit box), I asked him if I could see the papers but he dos'nt think it is important enough to get them.

I tried to dig up the other thing I saw but it is too big, it looks to be a slab of concrete or a big rock.
