Red face Newbie here

Hello, My name is Debbie,
Bought my son a medal detector about 7 years ago, he never used it, so I asked if he would mind if I used it, as I have always though about doing this hobby.
Well don't really know to much about it, so I went out in the yard to play, and I found, 1 quarter, 4 dimes and 2 pennies.
Was very excited, I just wish I knew how to aim or target a bit better.
Well thanks for reading. I love reading what people find. Gets me motivated.
Bye Deb

Default type of detector

It is a bounty hunter Pioneer 202, which is the same as bounty hunter Quick Draw 2

Welcome, Debbie! Hope that you find many more coin. You will be surprised at what you will find, even in places like the local playground.

I would suggest that you first sweep your detector over an area of your yard where there are no signals. Take a quarter, dime, nickel amd penny and place them a couple of feet apart. Watch and listen as the coil passes over them.

When the coil is directly over them, you should have your strongest signal.

When you are hunting, move your coil in an "X" pattern over a signal to help you pinpoint the target.

Try not to swing your coil too fast, you may miss a target. I suggest 4 seconds to sweep from one side to the other.

Default Hi Debbie

Great hobby to be in !! You practice with that Bounty Hunter and soon the pin pointing will become easy. Soon you won't even notice you are doing it, almost like instinct when you get over a target.
Try this for fun. Get a piece of cardboard and have someone tape some coins to the back side. You try to pin point the coins and put a stick pin thru where you think the coins are. Turn it over and see how close you come. Not only fun but you will be surprised how fast you learn to get real close to your targets.
Good luck and look forward to hearing about your great finds.

Welcome, Debbie, you will learn your machine in no time. With some practice and patience, the "good" coins will come. To learn your machine a little better, I would suggest that you dig everything. This will force you to identify where certain targets "fall" on your meter. Happy Hunting!

Welcome.. Best tip is like everyone else has already said. Go often, dig everything. It's the best way to learn your machine and what it's telling you in different situations. Other suggestion is just have a good time, no matter what you find it's a day playin in the out of doors...
