1921 Buffalo nickel...not dug
I bought this 1921 Buffalo nickel on eBay with a crisp, 4 digit date....for 2.50 worth of corroded clad (ppd). It appears to be a weakly struck example, since for the period from 1920 to 1925-26, coins with liberty merging into the rim on MS examples are commonplace. I think this one will grade out at VF-30......and is worth closer to 25 dollars than to 2.50
Treasure is where you find it. I occassionally snag a good one on ebay, and this looks like one of my better buys. I buy silver with my modern coin finds as a rule...but I had to break from my usual practice for this one even though I don't collect the series.
It's definitely got more appeal to me than those crusty clad quarters I bought it with....and takes up less space.
