Default More park silver tonight...and a clad purchase

Today started out great. I went to the post office and found this 1923 Peace dollar in the mailbox....bought with 11.00 of park clad.

After supper I went to the park and stayed in the shade near the monkey bars for the first hour....and found the 53-S quarter on edge at 4 inches, and not a foot from it was the 46 rosie. The 61-D quarter and the 56 rosie were found at the other end of the park. I suspect that these were also on edge. I had to "conjure" up the quarter signals....by checking the signal from several different angles.

Besides the 4 silver tonight...I found 3.99 in modern change. Some of it was on top of the ground. There was one spot by the baseball bleachers where I found 4 clad dimes....all in the same spot. They hadn't been there long, and they weren't even crusty yet. I added a penny to tonight's haul and bought a 42-D walker on eBay.

In the past week....I have unearthed 22 silver coins, and bought 7 others with modern clad. I only found one silver dollar that was reasonably priced...and the other 6 I bought are half dollars, a 1906 Barber, a 58 Franklin, a 43 walker, 41 walker, 42-D walker, and a 45 walker. The S mint washinton is a first....the SLQ with a date is a first...and 2 SLQs in one week is a first for me too.

It's been a productive week, though the past 2 nights I'd found no silver. I have come to the conclusion that my machine does decidedly better with fresh batteries, whether they be freshly charged nicads...or freah alkalines. The machine loses some depth after about 4 hours of continuous use, and silver finds slow down.

Tonight's park adventure was only 2 hours in duration.

It's been a memorable week for sure. I just looked at that 53 quarter...and it's not a 53-D, it's a 53-S.....wonder if that makes any difference? Probably not. It's my first S minted quarter though, which is kind of neat.
