I did walk into a sow with cubs a few years back. Was out for a strole with the dogs one morning and walked into her by accident. She was tearing apart an old tree about 75 yards off the dirt road. Figured I could slip by her but she jumped over the log to get at the other side and that's when she saw us. She gave a whoof and two half grown cubs went up the tree behind her. First thought was OH **** but I guess she figured I was a gentleman of honorable intentions and she let me walk slowing out. Dogs are well trained so they just stayed with me and didn't bark. That alone probably saved my bacon.. Bears are pretty common around here and most the time they want to run into you less than you want to run into them. The mountain lions, well that's a different story.. Bob |
