Default Lessons On A Hot Friday Evening

Finall got a break in my busy schedule. Went out to a samll park not far from my house.
Managed to get in some practice and enrolled in "How To Listen To Your Metal Detector and Know What It I Saying To You 101."
I was out about an hour.

Found:
  • Trash items---mainly foil, destroyed aluminum cans and pull tabs.
  • Small charm from a kids bracelet--Lokks like aluminum
  • 1972 Quarter
  • 1982 Dime
  • 1972 Nickel
Learned:
  • Need a stronger right arm.
  • Not to mention new knees.
  • Sometimes a hit that sounds like trash is not always trash--Dime
  • If you have three piles of dirt a dime will move from one pile to the other as you are searching for it in the first or third pile on your plastice sheet. Not sure about this one yet.
  • Always check the ground under your plastic sheet before you start looking through the dirt that you removed from the hole. The sound that you are hearing may be in the ground under the sheet
  • A quarter that was once flat in a hole may just decide to stand on its edge.
  • Never place your knife in your back pocket with the knife blade point up. Rather not go into this one.
  • Good idea to dig the trash signals--Nickel
  • MDing is a HECK OF ALOT OF FUN.
PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE AND LISTEN TO WHAT YOUR DETECTOR IS SAYING. IT MAY BE TELLING YOU SOMETHING IMPORANT.
BASSET
Thanks to all for your advice. Hope to receive more.

Basset, love the lessons learned post. I agree with the one...about how the dime will move from pile to pile....that happens to me all the time LOL

How About The Bent Over Beavertail Of A Pull Tab. These Give A Good Signal Then Hide On You After You Open Up The Hole. Even With A Pinpointer They Like To Play Hide And Seek
