Default New honey hole....2 fun filled hours

All of the trips I ever made to the park (and there have been many) excluded one area. There is a fenced in area that's roughly triangular in shape. It's about 40 feet long, 25 feet wide at the wide end...and 10 feet wide at the narrow end. The only access is through the poolhouse. I asked permission to hunt that little area this morning, and was in there for just short of 2 hours. I wish the pool were older. It was built in 1969, so no silver within the fence, but here's what I did dig in that short span of time. This is what it's like to hunt virgin territory. I wish the pool had been built 10 years earlier. If it had been....much of this would have been silver.

40 clad quarters...
18 clad dimes.......
3 nickels..............
23 pennies....not one wheatie

Grand total...12.18...just over 6.00 per hour. Hey, that's better than minimum wage!

I guess I'll go eBay shopping....and score a couple more silver coins for my stash since I was unable to dig any.

Wyatt

Way to go Wyatt. Good for you. Days like those make this hobby worth the days that you come up empty. HH JoAnne

Thanks...It definitely made for an interesting morning.

You know Joanne.....I kept wishing you were here with your machine. I think we could get the thing figured out. None of this stuff was very deep....it's just that nobody had ever been in the fenced in area. I think the deepest coin was a quarter at 4 inches.

I have heard many many people complain about not being able to pinpoint easily with the BH machines....and I've heard that the instructions aren't much help.

Here's what I ended up buying for my jar.....12.50 ppd. I still had a little over a half a dollar leftover from last night's shopping, so it's been bought using dug money...no out of pocket except an envelope and a stamp.

Wyatt

You know Wyatt I wish I was there too. I think like you said all I need is someone to show me how to do it. I am a much better visual learner. You are right the BH pamphlet is about 4 pages and says absolutely nothing. I know I can find things cuz I have in the past. I am thinking I may try and go out for a bit this afternoon. Just not sure cuz it sure does look like rain. Thanks for your concern Wyatt - can't wait til I can go and see Tony in CT face to face and have him show me what I need to do or help me find the correct machine for me.

Glad you were able to buy some silver. Your jar will be full in no time. What do you plan on doing when your jar is full? Buying something special? Starting another jar? Happy Hunting and again thanks.

After I get the pint filled up......I have to fill these 2 quarts. I am speculating that silver will rise substantially over the next 15 years, and I intend to have this stuff when I retire. Maybe I'll do a little coin dealing when I retire. For now it's just fun. It's amazing how much the pint jar weighs and it's just 3/4 full.

I hope Tony can get you up and running. This is such a great hobby. You should be finding more stuff. There are coins everywhere.

Thanks RIP - you guys are so sweet. I did go out for about an hour this afternoon. Found 2 pennies and a batman figurine. I am not willing to give up on this hobby yet. I really enjoy it. Just not so sure how much my old knees can take and then when I do dig it turns out to be a pop top that is frustrating. I will hang in there however. Pretty soon it will be too cold for me to get out there so have to enjoy it while I can. Thanks again guys for all the info and help you have given me. JoAnne

That's a peace dollar....and 1922 is the most common year. Still, it's something to squirrel away. Way nicer than all of that crusty money I dug up.

I don't know if I'll be rich......but I am having fun right now.

Went to Wally World and picked up cat food......and came back and had a couple more hours of daylight.....and got another silver dime.....a 43 merc.
