Default Weekend digs...Any which way I can

The park is getting stingy these days, but saturday I managed a 1960-D rosie in a previously dug hole....oops. I must have removed a coin from the hole and didn't re-check it. Saturday's hunt was brief. Fierce winds chased me home after a couple hours in the morning. Aside from the silver dime, all I had to show was a clad dime and 2 nickels.

I decided that I'd go to the high school today since the pickin's were so slim at the park. I was there about 4 hours, and while I didn't dig anything old...unless you count a single 42 wheatie...I did manage to dig some coins. I ended the day with 24 clad quarters, 30 clad dimes, 5 recent nickels, and 13 pennies. I also dug a ladies sized Zippo lighter, which proudly proclaims it to be "solid brass"....whoop dee do.....It's rusted inside naturally, and the bottom has the dates 1932 to the left of "Zippo"...and 1990 to the right of it.

With what was already laying in my gatorade bottle.....I mustered enough dug modern coins to put another 1922 Peace dollar in the stable. So goes "modern" treasure hunting.....

Default Peace dollars

Like your peace dollar wyatt. It's my favorite coin. Do you have very many? You always come home with something in hand. Keep on searching. You'll find the big one, someday! hh greg

GregNB.......I think I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 18 Peace dollars, but have only bought 3 with dug clad. I got a nice 1908 Barber half in today's mail...also a clad buy. I showed it to Greg......hard to believe that you can buy a silver half that's 98 years old, with a rarity of R-3, in near fine condition....for 13 bucks ppd.

The old silver's much nicer than the clad......but I am going to have to start working another site.....the drive-in produced lots of modern quarters, and I didn't work very much of it. There's probably a few rolls of quarters there waiting for me to dig 'em up. Weather permitting....I think I'll give it a go.

Wyatt
