How Did This Get Here ?
WELL, PAPPY went up the road this morning to a friends house and took my dogs. This friend owns a lot of property here in the mountains and I often take my dogs there for them to run.
Got there and ask Larry if if could let the dog's run to which the answer is always yes. Ask him if I could metal detect while the dog's were out and he gave me the same answer as always...Yes. Went down in one of the fields where the sun was shining ( 30 deg. here this morning) and the sun felt really nice on these old bones. About 5-6 minutes into detecting I got a signal on the ole ACE250 and I assumed it was junk...Kinda bouncy signal. Kept messing around in several modes and finally locked in on Silver Quarter. Dug down about 3" and Nothing..Scanned the hole again and still got a stronger signal. Dug down about another 2", scanned and still got the signal. Dug about another inch and out it came>>>>How in the world did this ever get here in these old mountains? 1789 Type 1 on Peru 8 Reales. Spanish Colonial with counter mark of George III. Found in the Krause & Mishler Cat. of World Coins under Catalog # 38.15. About $120.00 in 2002 in fair condition. Catalog Picture and actual coin picture. GOING BACK TOMORROW ! PAPPY

Congrats on your very interesting find, Pappy! The question of how it got there will probably haunt you for years to come. I hope you find plenty more unusual and unique coins there again. :)
