Default During My Camping Trip...

I took the wife and kids out camping on Thanksgiving day... it was both a good and horrible trip. The horrible news first: weather was beautiful and temperature was in the 50's ... until about 11:00 that night when it dropped to the lower 40's or upper 30's... my tent is screened at the top with a rainfly, therefore any heat in the tent escaped through the roof! It was FREEZING!!! There were some people partying not far from us and they were loud, blowing horns, cussing and drinking up a storm.... however that was all taken care of this morning when I reported them to the forest ranger who woke them up at 6:30 (they went to bed at 5:30) and made them pack up and leave.
The good news however was that I did find my first ring in MDing yesterday!!! It is nothing of value, however I was very proud to have found it nonetheless. I decided to MD in the thicker part of the woods since I was picking up a lot of trashy areas near the edges of the woods... Once in the heavier part of the woods I was getting absolutely no signals... trash or good... The Louisiana state bird, the mosquito, they were attacking the crud out of me and I regretted not having brought my MDing bag with me in the woods which contained a bottle of OFF. I was frustrated with the mosquito's and was about to head back to the tent when I got my signal... the ground was very rich soil and digging was super easy. I saw metal and originally thought it was a shotgun shell... until I took the dirt off and saw it was a men's ring. I think it may be gold plated if it has any gold at all in it... and the bottom has 21R engraved on it... anyone knows what this means? Later that evening my daughter and I went back to the woods and all I found then was an old convience store lighter and a flathead screwdriver, which I will clean up and round off the end to use as a MDing probe!

I had trouble posting three of the pics of the ring, but I continued all night until I finally learned how to get them to fit. It takes using three different photo programs - a pain, but I had no other choice...

Default Dreaded Photo's!!!

It took me all night, minus falling asleep at the computer, to be able to get the remaining three photographs to fit in order to post them... I have absolutely no idea how others are able to post some images and when you click on them they appear quite large, that helps to show detail in coins and other finds... I would love to know the secrets out there. When I do post my images, it tells me that they have to be a certain size... if I do get them to that size, they appear rather tiny, even when they are clicked on. One day I'll learn - hopefully!

Anyways, all photo's are now submitted in the first post of this thread!

Default Stephan, the ring was a great find

Your camping trip almost reminded me of my last one. It was an organized campout hunt here in Virginia.

There were over 100 of us camping and hunting and the first day was beautiful. Some nice finds were found and the fellowship was great.

Then the bottom fell out, A Nor’easter was headed our way and we were advised that it would be in our best interest to pack up and leave. Most of the hunters did BUT some of us hard headed ones decided to “ride the storm out”

Long story short we made a huge mistake by staying, we ended up with six inches of rain along with 30-50 mph winds. Tents and canopies were blown all over the place, looked like a tornado came through.

We all decided we had had enough and packed up only to be stuck in the field we were camping in. The Landowner had to use a tractor to pull our vehicles out, it was a mess.

Hope that is the first of many rings for you my friend.
