Default Need help identifying coin

I recently bought a house, and in the garage was a can of nuts and bolts. My wife found a coin in there but it's really beat up. On one side it says "United States of America 1944". The other side is really really beat up. I have attached a pic. I did some research and I only found one page that had any info on it. I have attached a pic of what the coin is supposed to look like. After looking at that pic, I have a few questions. On the reverse side it says "Fifty Centavos" on the top and the bottom says "Filipinas". Why would a coin say United States of America on one side, but say "Fifty Cantavos" (Fifty Hundredths in Spanish) and "Filipinas" (Girl or Woman in Spanish) on the other side. I'm probably just not looking at the bigger picture.

I think it maybe a coin minted for use during the war WWII for the soldiers on the Phillipine Island. Not really sure but thats my best educated guess

Default Coin

Yours is a 1944S 50 CENTAVOS. This is the result of an "Establishment of the Commonwealth" between Presidents Roosevelt and President Quezon of the Philippines during World War II.
They also minted one with the profile of Douglas Mac Arthur in 1947 and another which was made of Nickel-Brass in 1958 and 1964.

Now I Have A Few Questions, Do You Have The Correct Obverse Pictured? My 1994 Redbook Shows The Dude Sitting Down And The 1944-45 50 Centavos Listed Under It, While The Woman Standing One Has A Differnt Shield Reverse, Which Was 1903-06 And Lists At 13.00 In E. Fine Cond. And The 1944-45 At 2.50 In Same Cond.
Its Listed Under "philippines Under Sovereinty Of The U.s.", And That The 1909-19 Were Stuck In Philly And S.f.. 1920 And After Were Struck In Manila., Because Of Ww2 The 44-45 Coins Were Struck In Philly, Denver And Sf.
A Redbook Is A Essential Tool In Ones Aresenal.

Default Coin

My conclusion was drawn from the STANDARD CATALOG OF WORLD COINS BY CHESTER L. KRAUSE AND CLIFFORD MISHLER, COLIN R BRUCE II EDITOR. This is also a really nice addition to ones aresenal.
Same coin you have pictured....PAPPY
