Default First time ever metal detecting

I have been reading these forums for a few weeks now, and I have been very eager to start MDing. I ordered a White's Prizm II a few days ago, and UPS brought it to my doorstep today. My girlfriend laughed at me as I immediately tore into the box and assembled my new toy. I walked outside and hit the ground running.

Unfortunately, we still have a few inches of snow on the ground here in Colorado. Undaunted, I plowed through the snow and started digging every signal I found. Sadly, the ground was frozen solid and withstood my best efforts to retrieve all that gold and silver I know is just under the surface!

I moved to the wood chip playground across the street from my house, where a few small patches are starting to thaw out, and the wood chips make digging much easier. I was able to come up with a few treasures and a bunch of trash, that I dutifully carted home. My first day's total was a whopping $.16 and a small key. I can't wait until the ground thaws out so I can do some real digging!

I hope there is room for one more in your MD community, because I'm hooked!
