Talking My first really cool find

Well, I decided it was time to venture outside the realm of my backyard, so it was my first day MDing in the outside world. Back when I was a kid in the 70's there was an old field where they'd set up a carnival twice a year. It's still undeveloped, so I figured it was as good a place as any.

List of things I found:

Beer cans
Beer cans
More beer cans
Beer cans
(Did I mention beer cans?)
Pull tabs
A lugnut
A door hinge
A key
An old-school cannister of Binaca breath spray
5 Quarters
6 Dimes
1 Nickle
14 Pennies (1 wheat)

And then I found this:

I have to admit, I was pretty psyched. The pin mechanism still works perfectly. The rush you get when you find something cool like this is more than worth all the digging.

When I got home I found out this is a NYPD mini-badge. A quick cruise on Ebay showed me it sells for about $50. Not too shabby. As cool as it would be to keep such a badge, I think I'm going to sell it and put the money toward a good cause... a new Ace 250.

Gotta say I love this hobby.

Wow,all those beer cans were worth the effort, I'd say.

Wonder if you did some research, that you could find the
former owner of the badge. Part of the thrill of MDing is finding
the rightful owners of items long lost. Although the officer probably
had it replaced, so may not mean as much as a class ring, for example.

Glad you're doing well, and an Ace 250 is an awesome choice
for your next MD

Default Great find

That is a really neat badge. I love finding things like that, coins are cool but stuff like your badge will always be one of your great finds.
I also have a little advice for you. If you would quit following Boobie around your beer can finds would drop off.
