Default Past two weekends finds.

The weather here in central Virginia has been perfect for relic hunting. I have hunted the past two weekends, posted below are my finds.

I had a very unexpected find today in an area that I have hunted many times before. I need to emphasize that in Appomattox although it was the site of the surrender the troops were not here long so the finds are few and between.

Local hunters still hunt with hopes of finding pockets of dropped relics here and there, today I found one of those pockets and found a very rare Confederate McEvoy Fuse Igniter. At first glance I would have not known what it was but my partner was quick to identify it as he had found one about ten minutes before I found mine. It looks like a fishing sinker BUT in reality it is a fuse type igniter for a cannon ball.

I hunted hard today and am tired but my reward was something I will cherish for a long time. When I got into the area that I was finding Canister Shot’s and friction Primers I called my partner over and WE hunted it together as a team. He found a spot that held numerous Grape Shot and called me over to dig some of them with him, that my friends is TRUE Relic hunting as well as friendship.

I hope all are able to get out and swing your coil, and your finds and friends are as great as mine.
