Wow, I'm also glad you didn't get bit.
You may want to detect places like that in the fall of the year when they go to their den.

Take care when your out cause I want to go detecting with you

Also check with mhardy53 he has a great detecting club not too far away from you. I just joined a few weeks ago
I'll see if he will post a little about it under Member Announcements.

Gregory. ...I will be in Smithfield real soon. My family had a decent sized very old farm down there. ; ) I could really use some help with the pin-pointing feature of my MXT...

Default Treasure Seekers Club

Hi Rob,
It would be great to have you as a member of our club. It is just getting started and everyone is welcome. Here is the URL if you would like to have a look. There are no dues and all I need is a photo of you and your address and I will send you a membership card.

Thanks Mike

P.S. Glad the rattler didn't hit you. I agree with Greg that late fall or early spring is probably the best time to detect those areas. We don't have rattlers here in Greene Co. but we do have cooperheads.

Mike....Thanks a ton!!!!! Ill do it today.

Gregory...My MXT has the trigger. Once a signal is heard. You squeeze it and wave it back and forth over the object. It then gives out this "WOO" that gets louder and higer pitched when you are directly over it...It shows the depth while doing this also...But I am having trouble getting it right...I still seem to have to dig more than I should.

Rob,
When pinpointing you are right over the target at the meter's deepest depth reading.
I have a few other pointers but will have to show you in the field.

Thanks guys!...I went out in the yard and the neighbor buried a few coins while I walked away and came back. The practrice is helping allot. I do have another question though.

Is it absolutely neccessary to ground balance the machine. One area that I pick is so full of trash that I can not seem to get a clean piece of ground.

Default Meetings

Greg, We haven't really had any official meetings yet, but now that we are getting more members I guess we should. I will get back to you on this.
