Second Ring
Two days ago I was detecting my backyard and hit on a decent-sounding target about 4 inches deep. The ground's pretty frozen, so I marked the spot for later.
Think I could stay away? Of course not. After light snow melted (and softened the frozen ground up somewhat...) I was out there chipping away, my dog watching me curiously. It was a miracle I didn't damage this beauty:  Sterling silver kid/child's ring. Don't know what the stone is, but it's beautifully faceted. That's my 2nd ring ever, two in 2 days.

Thanks all. I have to give credit to this great forum for all the inspiration and advice - many of you have found (and posted photos of) some really great stuff!
As for the dog... the first time I dug a hole in the yard she gave me this look like "Heyyyy!!! Alright!!!" and then started digging herself one. I had to give her a 45-minute bath. Now she just watches me and roots me on.
