Post Old Keys/Sinker

The Keys:
No I didn't find these old keys MD'ing, but thought for you key collectors, ya might be interested in looking at them...

The Sinker:

I did find this sinker at the beach, tangled up in a mess of monofilament line...I've done alot of salt water fishing over the years but have never seen a sinker quite like this one, with legs...? ...

I've never seen a sinker like that either. Fer the life of me I can't think of what the legs are for. The only thing that even enters my mind is a
weedless sinker.

Hello Boo ... here in NC we use sinkers similar to that (called nail sinkers or wire sinkers) when using a double rod live bait rig from a pier to catch king mackerel, cobia, jacks, etc. The nail sinker is on the anchor rod and is usually a 6 or 8 oz sinker with either wire or nails sticking out of it to help hold in the hard sand bottom of the OBX.

Dang, Boobird, Thanks. A few weeks ago I threw away a very tiny piece that resembles your sinker. Kinda thought it was a sinker but it didn't resemble any I'd ever seen. Figured it was just junk. Fortunately I haven't emptied that trash bucket yet, so I'm gonna retrieve it and take another look.

When in Florida last fall I found several types I'd never seen before.

Hey...Thanks for the info NC...that clears things up a bit...I found it close to the waters edge and I imagine the dude who lost it used it for surf fishing for either Stripers or Blues...? It doesn't seem to have any use the way I see it for surf fishing though...? And a funny thing struck me when I first saw it...If this thing's supposed to stand up on the legs/feet, when casted out then good luck...It took me 15 seconds to get it to stand upright on a level table... Its about 3 or 4 oz...And in the center it has printing on it...(110 pat)...?..anyway, once again, thanks for the info...

Hi Boobie...

Well, as I scrolled down a bit NCHunting gave me a pretty good description as to the purpose of the legs...Thanks...

Default Sinker

It is NOT really a sinker. What it is is a Anchor for King Fishing. When fishing for King Mack's off a pier you use it on your anchor rod. The prongs grab the sand to keep your anchor line from moving. You then attach your bait from your bait rod and lower the bait into the water suspended from the anchor line. When the King hits he detaches the bait line from the anchor line and the FIGHT IS ON !!!
