Default Hollow Trees

Have any of you ever found anything inside of hollow trees? There are a few trees that are hollow at the base and sort of hard to get the coil inside (I don't have a viper coil for my Ace 250, yet). Just wondering because there are a ton of pop tops in there.

I read once that in the old days people sometimes threw coins into hollow trees for luck. The trees were usualy located along old wagon trails,so mabey cheak for trees with a hollow spot about the leavel of someone sitting in a wagon/carrige etc. There is a bar in town here that has a back deak and next to it is a hollow tree that i have been tossing coins into ever sence i read that story. I dont get out much so there's not alot of coins there yet !

I've heard stories but I don't know if any are true. I also heard it is possible for coins that get dropped near the trunk can get taken into the tree as it grows (like a fence wire). That can drive you nuts trying to find that target!

Default hey priss

i think they are pop tops on the moon too hehe, ive found some good finds around big trees, they dont have to be hollow and usually the good stuff is under a root that you have to chop into to get it because some people wont dig that long for a signal...the beaches on the west coast should hold some good blig and easy digging.....creekrat

Was on a job once, there was a big dead cottonwood that had a hollow spot we had to remove. I started up my chainsaw and when I was about half way through I just about got the saw ripped from my hands as the motor suddenly shot into the side of the tree. When we finally got the tree down found that someone had dropped an umbrella down inside the hole and all that was left was the metal framework that my saw had snagged.
Well THERE'S your problem...

Default Bob;s post ....

Reminded me of a tree my brother and i cut down awile back. The tree was a large maple in my Great grandfathers yard.I have a photo that was in a newspaper of my Mom as a young girl standing next to the tree with a sap bucket. When we cut it down there were a few sparks, and when we looked it had some of the taps still in it and you could see were it had been tapped before. So i saved a chunk and have been meaning to do something with it,but havent decided what yet.

Hello Pris and not sure if I said hi and welcome to you to the forum...Lots going on in this girls life..... check anywhere you can get that coil...be careful what's lurking in those hollow trees. You just never know... you might just find a cache someone buried years ago near or unerneath one of those trees!!!!
